Seattle Space Needle: Know Activities, Timings, Cost, Etc

The Space Needle is the most iconic symbol of Seattle. The Space Needle was worked in 1962 for the World’s Fair to symbolize humanity’s exploration of space. You must be wondering how tall is Seattle Space Needle. At 605 feet tall, you will surely feel a rush of adrenaline when the elevator takes you to the upper viewing decks. Whether you’re planning to visit Seattle for a day or seven days, a visit to the Space Needle is a must-do thing on your itinerary. This travel blog will give you everything you need to know for visiting the Space Needle in Seattle.

Seattle Sky Needle was implicit for around 400 days. It was fabricated specifically for the World’s Fair in 1962, which Seattle hosted. During that first year, millions of individuals visited the Space Needle, including Elvis Presley!

The Space Needle in Seattle has changed much throughout the long term. Today the Space Needle is painted white, however, when it was first fabricated, it was much more bright. The center was painted olive green, the saucer was red-orange, and the rooftop was painted gold. (Only the legs were painted white at that point.)

The Space Needle continued to stand out as truly newsworthy throughout the long term. In 1989, a nearby news station ran a phony report on April Fools Day saying that the Space Needle had fallen over. Emergency lines were overwhelmed with concerned callers! (Obviously not a decent joke to crack) In 1999, the Space Needle formally turned into a City of Seattle Landmark.

In 2018, the Space Needle underwent a significant renovation to enhance the viewing experience. Glass walls and benches (“Skyrisers”) were placed in the outside viewing stage. Guests can now take photos on the top deck without any fences obstructing the view! Additionally, the world’s first and only rotating, glass-floor (“The Loupe”) was installed in the lower viewing deck. Now, you can in a real sense see Seattle beneath your feet!

Parking in downtown Seattle can sometimes be stressful. Assuming you’re bringing your own vehicle, we recommend that you leave at the Seattle Center’s 5th Avenue N Parking Garage. (It’s a fast stroll from that point to the Space Needle.) You can also take the monorail, bus, or a ride share.

Assuming that you have young children and are bringing a stroller, please note that strollers aren’t allowed to the top. You’ll need to stop them in a specially designated area outside. There was an attendant nearby, however, we eliminated every one of our belongings from our stroller before it leaving it there. (We didn’t bring our thus child transporter that day, yet I wish we would have! Assuming we had brought it, we wouldn’t have needed to convey our child the entire visit.)

Seattle Space Needle Activities

Seattle Space Needle Activities

1. Elevator Ride

One of the iconic Seattle tourist spots, the elevators to the top have glass windows, so you can see the city as you rise up 520 feet to the viewing platforms. It takes 43 seconds to travel to the top. When you first enter the elevator, attempt to get a spot next to one of the windows for the best views. When you’re boarding the elevator, it won’t be quickly obvious where the windows are, so you can always ask the operator where you should stand for a decent view.

2. Viewing Area (Open-Air)

This is one of my #1 areas of the Space Needle. The glass benches are designated “Skyrisers.” Despite the fact that they are securely placed against glass walls, they are not for the faint of heart! They give unobstructed views of the city.

3. The Loupe Lounge

In the event that you have a bigger financial plan, you could enjoy Seattle space needle dinner by making reservations for seating at the Loupe Lounge. They offer arranged meals and drinks for adults ages 21 and over. This experience would make for a fabulous night out.

4. Indoor Observation Deck

Even on a rainy day, you can enjoy a visit to the Space Needle. The indoor observation deck has glass panels that will still allow you to see the city around you.

5. The Loupe

The Loupe floor underneath features the world’s only glass, rotating floor. You can even see the gears turn underneath your feet! On the off chance that you’re apprehensive about heights, this may be a troublesome experience. Be that as it may, don’t stress, engineers have endeavored to make the glass floor safe. There are 10 different layers of structural glass on the Loupe floor.

6. New Years’ Eve Fireworks

Every New Year’s Eve, fireworks are lit atop the Space Needle. Last year, the event was absolutely virtual due to Coronavirus. I’m not sure on the off chance that they will have a New Year’s Eve get-together this year, yet ideally, the tradition will return as soon as it’s safe to partake!
